Techsessories Report: 3 must have high-tech kitchen gadgets

Although I can cook, I don’t tend to do much of it on a regular basis.  Love the idea but hate the cleanup, so most of the time I take the path of least resistance (i.e., Stouffer’s red box entrees & my microwave).  However, my enthusiasm always jumps a couple of notches when I have a new gadget to use that just might make the whole process easier.

These three high-tech kitchen gadgets are sure to make your life easier too, whether you put three squares on the table for your family every day, or only use your stove once a year.  And the best part is that they are products you’ll actually use, unlike the Belgian waffle maker/pasta maker/authentic espresso machine/etc. currently sitting in the gadget graveyard on your bottom shelf.  Or is that just me?

Ok, so you banged it on the counter, ran it under hot water, and possibly even pulled the wrench out of the toolbox.  But you still can’t get that lid off of that jar!  Never fear, Black & Decker comes to the rescue with the Lids Off JW275 jar opener.  The height adjusts for different size jars, and it’s collapsible for easier storage.  One touch operation gets all of your tough lids off in a snap!  You can find it on www.amazon.com for $89.

If you do cook on a regular basis, you know how important it is for ovens, pans, and food to reach a specific temperature for thorough and safe cooking.  Checking those temps can get a little tricky and even dangerous when you have to be too close to the item you’re measuring.  Enter the Bonjour Culinary Laser Infrared Thermometer.  With a digital readout that measures temperatures from 0-932 F, you can safely make sure that everything in your kitchen from the refrigerator to the oven is working efficiently.  There’s also a probe for food as well.  You can find it at www.chefsresource.com, recently discounted on sale for $84.95 with free shipping.

You can’t use this last item for cooking, but it will surely make grocery shopping much easier.  The SmartShopper is an electronic grocery list organizer that will make sure you never forget the milk again!  It has voice recognition, so you just speak items into the device as you think of them.  You can store up to two different lists, categorize them in a variety of different ways, and even keep track of coupons.  It sticks to your fridge magnetically, you can print the list out, and it even has a timer so you won’t forget to take the list with you.  What more could you ask for?  SmartShopper retails for $79.99 with free shipping at www.SmartShopperusa.com.

  1. I have to admit that the first tow items were kinda wack. I mean for me that is. I married so I have an automatic jar opener for life. As for checking the temp on my food, well I am no gourmet chef but I been cooking for a while so when it’s hot its hot. But mow the last item, now that right there is the bomb.com (do people still say that?). I can’t seem to write shopping list to save my life and I Definitely makes a big difference if your on a budget and want to make sure your maximizing them dollars. This is going on my Christmas list for sure!
