TechTrends – Dating in 140 characters or less

With all of the online dating options out there, what’s one more gonna hurt?  Twitter is re-entering the dating game with Luv@FirstTweet, and so far, the reviews have been mixed.

The idea is pretty simple:  once you sign up, you follow @Luvatfirsttweet which regularly tweets questions designed for someone to get to know you better.  You reply to the tweets and your dating profile is built from those responses.  Luv@FirstTweet then attempts to match you with others based on similar tweets.

I signed up – purely for research purposes of course! – and the concept seems to be off to somewhat of a slow start.  As of today, there were only 1,013 people following @Luvatfirsttweet.  So you consider the fact that there are roughly 150 million registered Twitter users, and well, you do the math.

But, if you’re one of those folks who don’t want to spend a lot of time creating profiles, checking winks, etc. this might be for you.  It’s super-easy and you’re already on Twitter anyway, so why not use it to tweet your way into someone’s heart?

  1. Well I meant my now husband on line and although I did not have the advantage of twitter I will say the internet is a great place to meet someone special. I mean you have to be careful of course but with the way the world is now a days so fast paced and all its a good thing we have these options. I will be interested to know how your “research” goes!

  2. Hi and thanks for the post about us. I’m one of the co-founders of Luv@FirstTweet, and as someone who has used Luv@FirstTweet for a bit, I was wondering how your personal experience with the site was. Was there anything that you found you really liked? Disliked?

Our biggest problem at the moment has been increasing our user base, and this of course has impacted the number of matches people get.

I’m glad you found it quick and easy to use – that’s our goal. If you had any further feedback you’d like to share I’d love to hear it. You can reach me at jon[at]luvatfirsttweet[dot]com.

    Thanks,
    Jonathan Lehr
